Asked the flu vaccine guy at work if they had some pneumonia shots to go with the flu ones. He acted surprised I asked and said yes. He said I didn’t need one. I said am I prevented from getting one? He said no. I said shoot me up doc!
There is a long and noble history of self medication. My neighbor recommended sleeping with a pair of scissors under your pillow to cure menstrual pains. You and she should write a book.

You really don’t know what you are talking about. If you ever smoked, you can get the pneumonia vaccine.

Literally have never heard of pneumonia vaccine. Bookmarked for sober buzzed.

Pneumonia vaccines are common.
My parents get them.
I think they are for those either 60+ or with serious health issues.

given to 65 and up
Thanks for info.
Why isn't it given to younger ppl without serious health issues?
Did they actually assess risks and determine it wasn't necessary?
Glad my parents get it every year regardless.

It’s not supposed up be given every year. Maybe you are thinking flu shot.

You know, this is seriously good food for thought. And i would bet money you are onto something here.
However- here is where the left vs right, liberal vs conservative issue comes in. You could be 100% correct and the libs would shut that down fast.
As opposed to you could be completely fabricating an untrue “common sense” solution that has an obvious reason for not working but I’ll bet money you are right and the damn liberals would rather see people die

You are correct.
I think it was prevnar one year and pneumovax the next.
Some protocol like that.

That’s good they get the flu shot though. They absolutely should get that every year.
Also make sure they have gotten shingles vaccine.

Prevnar 13 is advertising like a mutha right now. Practically every radio dial has a Prevnar 13 commercial on. Saying it can be administered to anyone over the age of 2 that has medical conditions, so you don't have to meet the prerequisite toddler under 2 or over 65 like the traditional pneumonicccol vaccine. But like others said, not sure what protection if any this can provide for a viral Delta double pneumonia when Prevnar 13 is designed for bacteria. Seems like they're making money hand over fist right now judging by the advertising blast.

It’s not like a flue vaccine where you get once a year. It can be just one shot and done for the rest of your life. Lots of people get this when they get older as preventative medicine.
I don't think this is correct I see am immunologist every year because I have very low resistance to Strep. He gave me the pneumonia vaxx and a booster about 8 mos later. Told me I should be covered for about 7 yrs.
I see him in a couple of months and plan to have a Convo with about the Rona vax and if I should consider it.

are people dying of viral, fungal, or bacterial pneumonia infections? I think they are giving antibiotics to prevent bacterial pneumonia

You might want to Google who the FBI has historically and typically targeted.

Thanks GoT1de

Talking out loud, heavy advertisements are a cause for concern to me. So this is good to know.
There is also another one called PPSV23. Maybe worth looking into.

This is interesting. I had pneumonia several years ago and got the vaccine after I recovered.
I think my doctor said I'm covered until I'm 65.
I'm really avoiding the COVID vaccine for now.

People with asthma and smokers are generally the group that have been recommended the pneumonia vaccine after a bout with severe lower respiratory infection by their doctors well before Covid even started. And these two groups have done surprisingly well in all 4 waves over the last 17 months.
Tin foil hat or not, this makes you stop and ponder things.
