it is happening....they can go to recess and PE and all that shite.....but had to wear a mask last year for it.
Not doing it this year....our kids know our stance on masks. I will never put them in this position again.
I cannot imagine what is going through kids heads right now when school authority is saying you have to wear masks or people will die.....while at home with family friends and neighbors everyone is running around without masks and all is perfectly well.
I teach my kids to respect adults and authority at all times....now how am i supposed to do that when the adults at schools are a bunch of communist fricks??
frick THAT, im done with these people fricking with my kids psychologically. I will just remove them from the school.

i mean come on. They eliminate the mask mandate the day school ended. was only a matter of time before they would bring it back for the start.

Preparing to homeschool here, but ours are very young. FWIW, I’ve travelled extensively and have some insight into what is useful. The good news is, if you and your wife are fairly well-educated, you can give your kid a world class education for around the same price as private school. Teach what you can yourselves. Hire private tutors for languages (these will be important, at least for another decade or so until automated translation improves). The language tutoring can be done via zoom. Maybe put a job listing in the LSU paper. Supplement by making TV time only available for programming in the languages the kids are learning (or specials on educational topics). There are a lot of books that guide parents on at home science experiments- just search on Amazon. eBay has a lot of old, neat science sets (electric motors, metal work, chemistry, physics, etc.). Find books (again, plenty on Amazon), that are written in English and the language you’re teaching the kids. Consider cultivating appreciation for nature and history with field trips- bird watching at a marsh, with a field guide for identification; hiking around Port Hudson or whatever is close to you; doing a kids program at a national/state park, etc.

You’re doing it wrong. You need to teach them to feign respect and agreement, then undermine from a position of power.

Our 4 year old was in a Montessori charter school last year and we are pulling her to home school for now . We are pulling her for other reasons , school has a big issue of brain washing kids on the transgenders.

hey baw. i can't add much to this thread from a homeschooling parent thread, but are your kids in Conroe ISD? My wife teaches in that district and she hasn't heard anything about forcing kids to wear masks this upcoming year. she's vaccinated (didn't want to), so she's going to be furious if she finds out she had to get vaccinated and still has to wear a mask to teach.
fwiw, we have a 6 month old and i can assure you both of us would be livid and weighing our options if our kiddo(s) was forced to wear a mask too.

Is acting in a unsafe manner and promoting non-hygeinic practices, simply to rebel against a reasonable practice really a prudent decision? It seems rather immature

No one takes your posts seriously. (At least no one paying attention.)

There are a lot of options with home schooling. Partner up with other homeschoolers, they have developed networks of teachers, field trips, and are a great resource.

it seems rather immature to advise other parents how to raise their children. i wish your parents did a better job, for example.

I've home schooled for 4 years now.
This is a bullshite statement. We do a ton of shite. If your lazy and dont want to put effort into meeting people then you'll sit inside the house all day every day.
My kids are doing art camp as we speak. They get together with others for nerf wars.
Swimming parties.
Library trips.
Beach day trips.
Crabbing days.
LEGO days.
Splash Pad days.
Target shooting at the lease.
Mine might be too social. They love people.
I love home schooling. We do address every year if we are still going to and are we meeting our kids needs. Do they want to go back or not. We are in discussions now.
If they are not being socialized it's the parents fault.

Klark,
We have some friends and neighbors who relentlessly fought to get in front of Superintendent Null and he conceded he can't, if he wanted to, do anything since the Governor's anti-masking order.
I do believe he is a raging, hardcore, and weak liberal and would love to mask the kids and teachers and that characterization is shared by many in the community. I do anticipate some "no mask" shaming/passive aggressive comments at Bradley but our daughter will remain steadfast, she 100% hates masks.
He refused to meet with a large group of people, including a PhD in Data Science, about his comment that cases would spread if masks came off. The group created a sourced document and PPT using unmasked school districts in 2020 to refute , beyond a reasonable doubt, his comment on a livestream. As I said, he ducked and ran.
Edited to add --> It is sad when someone makes over 200K a year from tax payers, makes decisions that destroys kids, and hides in his office and won't answer his door at home to speak to the men & women he should be advocating for.

My 6yo just started montessori halfway through last semester and I already have my doubts, but I figured it couldn't be worse than the garbage he was getting at the public school. I'm now considering the homeschool option again as well. Which sucks for him because he's extremely social, craves being around other kids. Whether at the public park, or on the beach on vacation, he is instant friends with every other kid. Total opposite of me. But I would surely hate homeschool for him.

Reasonable practice?
It might be reasonable if every person every time washed or changed their mask daily. (Doesn’t happen).
It might be reasonable if no one ever wore their mask like a beard. (Doesn’t happen).
It might be reasonable if they treated everyone the same regarding masks. (Doesn’t happen).
It might be reasonable if they didn’t flip flop 7 times on whether to wear masks.
I think you get the picture. This is classic psychological conditioning from self-important bureaucrats way more than it is prudent public health guidelines. My patience is wearing thin, and it sounds like the same is true with the OP.

I'd be willing to bet that there are certified teachers in your area that teach small groups in a "school like" setting.
My sister lives in the Nashville area. This is what they did last school year. Their local church let them use their facilities at no cost.

My 13 yr old son was sent home 4 different times last year for quarantine reasons. Masks required and social distance as well at the school. If masks work and they are socially distanced why would a kid need to be quarantined if they show zero signs of COVID?
I asked this question to the school principal after the 3rd time and she couldn’t give me a straight answer.
It’s all about money bottom line. They more victimized the school district the more money they get.

Home-schooling is the best if you can do it. Our granddaughter has used the ABeka program since pre-k .. will be going into the 5th grade next month.
No worries about social activities. Sign up for private or semi-private music lessons, dance lessons, church-sponsored activities, county sports teams. If there's nothing like that near you, form a group with like-minded.

We did too, just like I was taught. I guess the new lesson needs to be "respect them until you hear differently from your parents."

We’ve almost always homeschooled. If your wife is of average competence it’s a great way to go. Your kids will share more of your values. If you and your wife are normal people and you find ways to let them hang with other kids outside of school they will Almost certainly be better off for being homeschooled. As others have said, partnering with other families is a great option as well.
