The 2018 US Senate election (which old arse Feinstein won again) ended up a Democrat vs. Democrat runoff.
That alone should tell you about California. There are very conservative pockets and counties, but the urban areas with the exception of some GOPism in San Diego vote almost strictly D. No matter the candidate.
