OU and Texas A&M sent full bands to their games at UCLA the last few years and we can’t even send a pep band!?

The Rant told everyone this almost a month ago

This is BS, I’m in the ND band and all of our travel plans have stayed exactly the same… I guess it’s different tho since we’re privately funded compared to public funds which took a larger hit

Dumbest thing that I have ever seen posted on this board!

Maybe Bo Pelini, Nicki Caldwell, or Paul Mainieri could sponsor the trip?
And Kim Mulkey!

Someone give Odell Beckham a call, I bet he would pay it.
For sure he would and we could let him back on campus. He can hand out cash to anyone he wants to now.

How does one start a gofundme thing? If news about this fiasco gets out to all Tiger fans then I bet we could raise the money.

not only funding, but making the lives of the decision makers very unpleasant until they change their minds!!!!!

Weird comments, it's like he's asking for more money
Posted on 7/7/21 at 8:38 pm to Tboy51
Guaranteed. We just need an in with someone in authority who could say “OK - if it’s privately funded, they can go”.
Would take about 3 hours and we’d have it funded.

Would 100% jump on board but we need Chicken to vet and OK these. Do we have anyone in authority on record saying that they “would go if they had the funding”?

Same thing happened for 2009 Washington road game. Enough stink was raised back then and they managed to get one there

It has to be a real slap in the face to realize that your trip to LA is kaput and that money is paying for Bo Pelini’s new business venture in the beverage industry
and frick pelini and the LSU idiot that signed this foolish contract.

Players should use their NIL money to make it happen.

I just emailed Kelvin Jones, and the other band directors, as well as my TAF rep. Please everyone bombard these people with your displeasure and offer your willingness to help:
Greetings Mr. Jones,
I am reaching out to you upon reading your comments in the Advocate regarding the decision to cancel the band from traveling to Pasadena. It is unfortunate that the student band members will not get to experience their school playing a football game at the most historic facility in football on national television. As an alum and solid ranking TAF member, the thought is embarrassing that we will not have band representation on primetime national television. It is obvious to the LSU community that the band is what makes college football unique and different from all professional sports. With the exception of the players and coaches on the field, the band is the focal point during all college football telecasts.
To me, as well as the majority of the alumni and fanbase, the band is part of the team. It is what helps make LSU special, helps bring people of all backgrounds together, and provides the glue which bonds the student, alum, fan, athletes, and coaches together. This is the pageantry of the sport that we cannot afford to omit. To not have the band at the game is unacceptable. While I understand that economics have lead to a hard decision, I am upset that the supporters of LSU were not notified of this issue months ago. We can help, but only if we are aware that there was a financial issue with sending the band to Pasadena.
The same situation occurred in 2009 when LSU travelled to Seattle to play the University of Washington. LSU was not going to fly the band to the game due to budget. This upset the LSU community, particularly the alumni chapter in Washington. They knew it would be the first and only LSU football game in their state. Money was raised by their chapter and other alumni, and were able to fund the pep band to attend the game. I am not sure if LSU paid for any of the cost, but the fact is the LSU supporting community helped overturn a decision with their support.
If your department, or the athletic department would just issue a press release stating that you need help with funding, and direct the public to an avenue which they can donate to a fund, I am confident it would address your economic concerns. I am sure that the alumni base in Los Angeles would rush to support this effort, as well as all fans attending the game, including my entire family and relatives.
It is not too late to reconsider and send the band to the Rose Bowl. An example was set in 2009 in Washington. If LSU figured out how to play sports during a pandemic, they can figure out how to gather the necessary funding to send the band to the game. This is extremely important to everyone in the LSU community.
Please reconsider your decision, and let the LSU community know how they can help and address the issue. We will be there to help you. All you have to do is reach out to us."

That’s like asking the teachers to change the school hours.
