You have two problems. A/C units icing over because filters are stopped up or low on Freon.

Drain is probably stopped up from algae or attic insulation.

That’s been my experience but I’m no expert.

Just went through this similar headaches with my unit. Condensate line had a lot of buildup and bleach wasn’t doing the trick. Safe T switch in the line wasn’t functioning so water was draining back into the pan. Caught it before the pan float shut the system off.

I ended up replacing the 3/4 pvc run from the unit to where it tied to my vent, and properly supporting it every 4 feet as per code. It wasn’t supported previously so a few feet past the unit it was running flat on top of the ceiling joists. I also added some of the condensate chlorine tablets to hopefully prevent buildup in the future.
