Is Baton Rouge hurting LSU coaching search?

Why would a young up and coming coach want to live in a city that has a huge crime problem and a mayor that does nothing? Places like Oxford and Knoxville are so much better to raise a family. Mulkey and O are here because it is home.

I mean... you aren't wrong. An older coach wouldn't have as many qualms as a younger coach with a family.

This is a valid point, however I doubt they would be spending much time on Plank road.

These coaches can live in very nice gated communities and send their kids to Episcopal or some shite.
Baton Rouge is not a great place to raise a family if you're not able to afford those things, but we're talking a higher tax bracket than most OTers.
FWIW, Dave Aranda said his wife and kids absolutely loved Baton Rouge.

No these coaches jobs are so demanding and life encompassing. They really don’t have time to do anything else.

Hannigriff said on Monday night on Jimmy Ott’s show that LSU baseball might be going through what Texas football went through. They think they can get any coach they want because of their history but it might be harder then they thought it would be.

Do any of our coaches have to live in the hood or frequent the hood??? You do know that there are nice areas of Baton Rouge too right?

I have lived in SBR my whole life and never experienced any problems with crime. Just have to have some awareness about where and when you can go to certain areas...like most cities.

Our coaches all live in Bocage, U-Club, or somewhere along Highland road, where crime (especially violent crime) is almost nonexistent.

If Tony Vitello can get the same money and a commitment to facilities, why would he leave Tennessee? He can be that school’s first big-time baseball coach. If everything else is the same, why come here where, at best, you’ll be the second-best coach in school history? He has no pressure at Tennessee. Here, the fans will want him fired if he goes 2 years in a row without going to Omaha.

Tuscaloosa is freaking Slidell with a college and it has no problem attracting coaches.

Baton Rouge suburbs are great.
I have a fantastic job in Northern Virginia but keep the family in Baton Rouge because it’s a wonderful place to raise a family. Company let’s me work remote. None of us want to leave.
