Both of my parents died in 2020 when I was 41 and they were 62 and 64. My mother died first (in March) after a bout with cancer, but the end was pretty sudden and there was never a need for extended care. My dad died second (in May) due poor health related to his weight and alcohol abuse. The end came quick for him too.
I hate that they're gone (even though my relationship with my dad at the end was non-existent for a number of reasons) but at least I didn't have to go through a long series of hospital trips and other things for someone who's no longer themselves and never will be again.
I'm a bachelor, no kids. I have no idea what the circumstances of my death will be like and who (if anyone) will be around when I'm no longer independent. I just want to face my death bravely and with dignity and that if I'm in a hospital suffering with no hope of improvement I can order up a shot to end it all.

Oregon has that right if you have a terminal disease.
