I’ve seen my parents help care of my grandmother for 6 years after she had a stroke that brought in early onset dementia. They saw her every day, but made sure her funds were arranged to pay for the PROFESSIONAL care she needed.

My parents are arranging their affairs to be able to afford the same professional care, and my brother and I and our families will see them every day. But we aren’t quitting our jobs, leaving our families, dropping what ever we are doing for an indefinite period of time.
