drainage canal in to MS River? The 4th longest river in the world and Top 10 in discharge? With typical flow rate, what you suggest the MS would immediately scour that canal and flow from the MS river into Spanish Lake and inundate the region and beyond. Waters that flow into the MS are major tributaries like the Missouri and Ohio, not some offshoot canal from Spanish Lake to alleviate a few miles of Aquadams!
Excuse my ignorance, but what’s the difference between what the poster suggested and what is being done north kf Baton Rouge with the Comite Diversion Canal?
Also, why can’t the state work on some master plan to include not only some sort of diversion canal south of BR that protects EBR, Ascension ANd Iberville all at the same time?
Would it not be possible to do something great with Spanish Lake like Toledo Bend or what was being proposed with the Darling Dam that would provide flood protection and maybe at the same provide and outdoor/recreational “paradise” for this area of Louisiana?
