You can continue to attempt to dehumanize one group vs another, but one group isn't governed by a body who recklessly and foolishly destroyed their own parish with zero regard for their neighbors.
Odd that you bring up politics, because the stupidity of effectively making a bowl, filling it with water, being surprised it is wet and demanding your neighbors towel seems like a certain demographic.

Literally what the Iberville Parish Government is doing by not applying elevation requirements and restrictions to people building in a swamp, then daming up most of the floodplain to protect their stupid decisions.
ETA: Not really parish president's fault. A lot of the housing pre-dates him. But this definitely calls for state intervention and a regional flood plan that must be enforced.
East Baton Rouge is far ahead of Livingston and Ascension, but they are all working more independently than they should. Livingston even sued Ascension on the placement of a levee a while back.

On one hand, I agree that EBR has been completely derelict on ensuring that these watersheds can handle new developments.
On the other, comparing EBR to Iberville in terms of central planning is also ridiculous because no one wants to develop that parish at even remotely the same pace as EBR.
I see why Ourso is doing what he's doing, it's just kind of ridiculous to dam off an area that could be used to alleviate a lot of problems.

That basin has filled up with flood waters from adjacent areas long before any Europeans settled in the area. You're trying to blame EBR and Ascension when they've drained to that area for hundreds of years.

In this case there is a bowl that has been a natural floodway and swamp forever. Water isn’t being allowed to drain into it.
That’s a huge and immediate problem when there is this much rainwater coming down.
