Also, Michael said he didn't want anything to happen to Fredo.

While his mother was alive.

Well he didn’t tell that to Fredo. I do think it is open for interpretation and maybe I just think Fredo is dumber than he actually is. The additional embrace at the end makes me think Fredo was clueless and thought that his brother would never wack him. Additionally Fredo was the only person that supported Michael joining the Marines. I think Fredo overestimated Michael’s loyalty to him and his family.

I’ll be honest and admit it’s been along time since I’ve seen either Godfather one or two. Never did see three. But I doubt Michael would actually tell Fredo nothing would happened to him while their mother was alive. But I know Michael said this to somebody. Just forget who.

I think most people assumed Fredo knew he was going to the gallows.

The tentativeness of him going on the boat, realizing the ride made no sense with just him and an enforcer after the kid gets removed.

wait, is this the new “Dottie dropped it on purpose”? Cuz I’ve always thought he knew. Just look at his face when the kid leaves just before they go out on the lake.
