I am a HUGE LSU fan, and have been all my life. But as a recruit it cant be very appealing to go to a college where we go on a "who has the hot hand" basis. MOST big time RB's coming out of college want to be the MAN on the feild, its hard to do that with rbs by comittee. On top on that look at what has happened to Alley and what appears to be Keiland. Both were supposed to be studs there SR, ALLEY got screwed and decided to follow his rapping career and KW is yet to be seen. Your thoughts? sorry so long.

Jacob Hester
Joseph Addai
Domanick Davis
LaBrandon Toefield
Rondell Mealey
Kevin Faulk

All LSU RBs drafted in the last 10 years...

Yeah why would a Top rated RB want to come to LSU

Scott is our starting RB because he won the job--nothing unique to LSU.

How many USC RBs carried the rock last week?

Umm, Alley screwed his own football career up, not LSU. As for Keiland, he has all the opportunity to be a featured back, he just has to rise up and grab it. LSU isn't really a running back by committee system, its a give the ball to the man that is producing system. Last year it was Hester, this year who knows, although Scott seems to be the one that will take over Hester's mantle. However, Les Miles is smart enough to know he does not need to hand off to any single running back 25-30 times a game. That just wears a person down and does no good for experience and depth at the position. LSU has plenty of talent at the RB spot and uses it very effectively. LSU also tries to protect you by not making you run 30 times a game and wearing your body out. You see all these great running backs who were big stars in college reach the NFL and then become busts due to injury. A runningback's career is very short in the NFL, there's no need to lose years off your NFL career just to get a few more yards added to your stats in your college career.

You will be adding Charles Scott, Richard Murphy, and Keiland Williams to this list soon. Using the committee makes sense because a back won't have the wear and tear by the time he gets to the NFL. And other schools are doing it now too. Look at USC.

OK, JOE ADDAI is about the only one of the group to make an impact in the NFL. Kevin Faulk has 3 Championship rings but wasnt that big of an impact of the team. Hester I think will do good things, I REALLY REALLY like the way he plays, but doubt hes a PRO-Bowl kinda player. Just saying. Does no one else see this?

The point is we've sent a lot of RBs to the NFL recently. They are getting/have gotten their paychecks...

What?!

I thought Jacob Hester walked on water!!

I thought Tim Tebow looks under his bed for Jacob Hester before he goes to bed!!

I thought Jacob Hester doesn't wear a watch because HE decides what time it is!!

He won't be a pro bowler?

Wow, Kevin Faulk had no impact in the NFL? He played a pivotal role in all 3 of his superbowl teams. You must not be paying attention to feel that he has had no impact. LSU sends a lot of players to the NFL. Les Miles system will continue sending more players to the NFL. RBs like Richard Murphy, Charles Scott, and Keiland Williams will all probably make it to the NFL and contribute in some fashion. That is a fantastic record if it comes to pass. Anyone who thinks an RB does not want to goto a program with such a record is an idiot.

LOL... I understand all your points. And I dont DOUBT our system by any means. And I def see your points as to less carries better for your career in the NFL. Basically just asking what yall would think if yall were in there position.

First, I dont think Miles go with the "hot hand" theory so much as the best player theory.

Miles and Crowton play the best player the most often and the best player for any given play. Keiland seems to be the best for options and Scott the best for inside.

Look at last week and last season, Scott and Hester respectively got the majority of the carries. Thus directly refuting your hot hand theory and pointing towards the best player theory.

Personally, I think it is appealing for rb prospects to play in a system where several backs split carries. Less wear and tear on them and also the ability to get playing time early because we do play all the backs.

Also, I think it is a testament to the running backs here that Miles has had to play them all because they are all good and deserve to play.

Sure, we may never have a heisman winning rb because they will not get the massive amount of carries that Beanie Wells does, but I think the appeal of playing in the sec and for championships often dwarfs personal goals such as winning the heisman. (I do think we could have a Reggie Bush style heisman winner here, just not a pound it out heisman winner because those require a lot of carries).

The fact is that we have been consistently putting alot of RB in the league. These kids make some serious money while following their dreams. How well they do the NFL is way out of LSU's control. That resides with how hard they work. D. Davis was close to rookie of the year till he got hurt.
