His value is over 9 innings.

What value does he bring to LSU when we are losing?

1-1 game in the seventh inning...
You can’t let him bat wirh the bases loaded. You have to score to win.

You know your argument is shot, when you have resort to a completley different than what is ACTUALLY happening.

But ill play...

Depends. Are we losing by 1 or 5??

Losing by 5, I could see pinching for some more offense.

However, thats not the case here. You need your best defensive catcher in there, especially when the current pitcher's go to pitch is a huge 12 to 6 breaking ball. A past ball could be the difference in the game. You know since its a tied game.

YOU HAVE TO SCORE TO WIN.

LSU was down to 7 outs.

Doughty could have easily racked up two catchers interference calls like Millazzo.

We weren’t losing, Choup. If we were then they would have pinched him. No matter who we pinched he almost certainly would not have gotten the RBI. Then we would have been defenseless at catcher.

We have two other catchers on the roster.

It was 1-1, two outs, seventh inning.

You have to score at least one more to win. Is the .168 hitter the best option in that situation?

That’s my thinking. It’s been a very frustrating season for all of us so I get that we’re all on edge and agitated at the situations this team finds itself in.

A normal LSU team we already have a regional host wrapped up, playing for a Top 8 and don’t need to roll the dice like PHing your best catcher. Sadly we have our backs against the wall struggling to even make the SEC Tourney. Now is the time to make shite happen and play with urgency. We were never going to get a scoring opportunity like that again and the kid ended up getting 2 catcher interferences (fair or not).

Not saying he’s a good option, but hasn’t Bianco caught before?

You’re trying to argue situational baseball with a bunch of idiots who learned the game from their high school coaches. Good luck.

Note: I didn’t watch the game so I have no feel for how things were going. That said, reading your situation, pinch hitting for Milazzo is probably the right thing. Take the lead, then take chances your other D1 Cs can hold it.

I’m sure I’ll get labeled as a Mizzazo hater, but Ell13 and I were both saying, even when Travinski had a few good games, that Milazzo needed to be the main catcher. And I still believe that. So over the course of a weekend his defense will help prevent runs. But in the situation we were in, tie game, bases loaded, 7 outs left, you have to pinch hit someone with a better than 16% chance of getting a hit.

Pretty well. 4 yr starter and batted 3 hole Around .400 total but hit .432 his SR year,
Never a power hitter mostly singles and doubles but hit a couple out per year

Again, I didn’t watch the game, but based on history if I’m leaving Milazzo in there I’m 90% gonna try to squeeze there even with two outs. Sadly I think there’s a higher percentage the play works than Milazzo getting a hit.

and put in who to catch?

Maybe recruit an actual catcher that can hit, or......maybe get a hitting coach that can actual help guys hit better. Milazzo looks like a 8 year old up there stepping away from the pitcher every pitch.
