I have a question.

What happens if you use a CPAP machine for a while, say a year, and then you stop using it for whatever reason, will you die in your sleep because your body has become dependent on the CPAP machine?

I've gone a few days to weeks at a time without using mine either for laziness or traveling and been fine, but I can tell my sleep quality isn't as good.

I didnt suffer any ill effects from using it for about a year and then stopping.

The airline/hose developed a leak, rendering the machine inoperable. I didnt get it fixed for 6 or 8 months because I just didnt want to be bothered with it. I didnt die.

I recently got a new hose and started using it again. Still havent died!
