Solid post, stone. Probably won't get much traction beyond me, but I think you're spot on. There's also the point that FNC isn't exactly a scrub network. Hannity's lengthy tenure in the primetime spot should indicate to people that their unflattering opinions of SH are seemingly far afield from the numbers/ratings and the resulting dollars.

Hannity's lengthy tenure

Hannity’s lengthy tenure as a top-rated talk-show host is a testament to the fact that Conservative Inc.® is and always has been a form of opposition control.

Can't defend Hannity on that wishful thinking, TD. Though I'll admit to holding such idealistic fantasies as well, back when. I think we all learned our lesson now. In fact, Hannity now supports sending zero boots into problematic areas, and addressing such from "a keyboard down in Florida". I.e., missiles, drones, space weaponry, etc.

Hannity learned his lesson; we all did. Trump never had to; he never supported the Neo-Con strategy of "Nation building". Then again, he made his bucks building venues for the affluent...instead of war machinery. Go figure.

Hannity makes millions a year to say what his bosses tell him to say.

He's an earlier version of tucker, lemon, joy Reid, Maddow, etc.

Actually, there is a simpler reason. In demographic breakdowns he has a good size female audience in a genre that is male dominated. Why do women like him? I dunno. But I know that my wife used to like his show and then stopped because she already knew everything he was saying.
She is now a big Tucker Carlson fan.

If true, I’m not sure we are in disagreement: segmenting the electorate into distinct demographic categories is a primary form of Deep State opposition control.

It just takes a good bit more than conservative women (not ALL of them, just the ones that bother to watch their choice of cable news, of course), it'll take more than that relatively narrow segment to get you the top-rated show on the top-rated network.

Not that I disbelieve that segment plays a role, I just don't think it's the primary role.

The reason why female demographics are so important in TV is because of ad sales. Women buy all kinds of stupid shite that run ads on TV. If your audience is all male you won't make money.

I just think it's a mix of both, sure maybe slightly skewed toward females but not by much I'm sure. Hell I'm on Nugenix right now because of that man-commercial on Fox. No I'm not.

Hannity is basically unwatchable. He repeats himself constantly and talks over everyone.

Does he ever interview anyone without mentioning how many trips he’s made to the border or his martial arts training?

Hannity is a 1 string banjo. Every show id basically the same. If you ever listen to his daytime radio show and then tune in that night is will be the same show with the same guests. is affection for the FBI and Ms Lindsay Graham is sickening. They all suck.

You'd probably be better off if you picked one or the other daily. It's kinda weird otherwise.
