One thing I don’t see mentioned much when comparing hitters is the fear factor. It may mean nothing but I wonder. Guys since 2000 look like hockey goalies when they bat. The old guys on the list weren’t wearing a helmet. Ray Chapman was killed by a pitched ball in 1920. It would have been on my mind. It could have impacted performance.
