From Reddit:

For everyone hot on 5G hotspots: the reward mechanism is different to LoRaWAN hotspots

Before you try to get a 5G hotspot, please note what I learned on the Helium Discord today:
As of at the moment: There is no reward planned for proof of coverage. The 5G hotspots will only be rewarded for transporting data.
This means: you will get no reward for just putting up hotspots and providing coverage - unlike the Helium LoRaWan hotspots. You will earn only if 5G devices use your hotspot to connect to the internet.
I am not saying:
• putting up 5G hotspots is not worth it. (Especially if there a products that are combined 5G and LoRaWAN hotspots).
I am saying:
• trying to find out, if you have a good/worthy location to put one in, is very important before you buy.
As always: if experts see that I got something wrong, please let me know.

so set up a hot spot
get a few 5g devices
stream 4k movies all day
profit?

How does this work as far as people using your node? Would someone have to be a Helium subscriber to use these 5g nodes (and generate money for me) or is Helium brokering these out to the big networks where anyone with a 5G device can use them? I'm trying to figure out for profitability am I dependant on anyone with a 5G device, or only people "with Helium" and a 5G device?
