Would downtown be a good place to stay for the game?

Looks like it is decent distance to rose bowl

Chicken, don't listen to the fools that think downtown LA is a sh _ _ hole. It was about 25 years ago. It most certainly is NOT today. Staying in downtown WILL allow you to ride the light rail to Pasadena and take the free shuttle from the station to the Rose Bowl. I live here and it's the ONLY WAY I go to that stadium. The Rose Bowl has the second worst traffic of any large venue in SoCal, behind the Hollywood Bowl, and possible tied with Dodger Stadium. Now, would I say downtown is the BEST place to stay? Probably not. The BEST would probably be Pasadena itself or Glendale, right next door.

I worked in LA for about 2 months and have done the touristy stuff like Walk of Fame, Griffith Canyon/Hollywood Sign, Santa Monica pier, etc. Would you recomend just staying in Pasadena? Hopefully want to do a day at Universal Studios but I'm worried about getting to hotel from airport and transportation out there. Any suggestions?

I'm planning on staying in Beverly Hills. Can you tell me more about this? Where can we pick up this train?
