Brennan just looked nervous as hell against a poor Mississippi state team. His pocket awareness was awful too. In that game, he actually stepped up in the pocket, into a sack, a couple times. I think that was the biggest difference between Max Johnson and Brennan, and why people are hoping to see more of Johnson. Brennan was a red shirt Junior who looked scared for his life early in the season, while Johnson didn't look nervous at all as a true freshman. I guess we'll see how it goes. I'll cheer for both, no matter what happens.

If a QB steps up into the pocket and into a sack, that’s not his fault. That’s on the OLine! The QB is taught to step to square to his target and step into the throw. That space should be clear. That’s not on Brennan!

YES! Max had that Joe type mobility and pocket awareness. His deep ball will improve with time. But that’s easier to improve vs MB and his pocket awareness

The entire team did too. We were underprepared for that game. We thought State was going to be easy. It was his first start. Max actually had meaningful playing time before his first start. MB didn’t. He had garbage time.
