Was Russell Shepard also a generational talent based on his high school rating?

You mean the same Russell Shepard that played under Les Miles? The coach that couldn’t get us quality QB play while having loads of WRs? The same coach that believed in running the ball 120% of the time? You put Russell Shepard in a spread offense like he ran in high school such as at Oregon or even Auburn during that time and he goes crazy. Come on. Even the past players were made that they couldn’t play in the offense of 2019 because it was so wide open. Arik gilbert is also the HIGHEST rated TE in 247 history. He’s 6’5-6’6 250 and ran what a 4.6-4.7 as a 18 year old. That’s the definition of generational TALENT

I mean can you people think for your own?? I trust coach O, Peetz, and Mangas... like grow the F up. Form your own opinions and stop being spoon fed.

Think on our own? Sir WE ARE FANS, WE ARE NOT INSIDERS, COACHES, OR PLAYERS! We don’t have all the facts or information to make these “opinions”. Why would I waste time making an uneducated opinion? Because it’s cool? Relax please

All this yes I would take him back and he’ll no he’s a quitter talk...do we even know if he wants to come back to LSU or we just making wild assumptions? Don’t think there is any factual info that he was meeting with coaches or reapplying to come back correct?

Yeah you are right. It is all speculation. This all started because I pointed out the fact that our fan base has handled this entire situation very poorly. One second we love him, then hate him, then love him again etc. I get on here a month ago and was reading some of the most ruthless comments imaginable directed toward the kid that were all heavily up voted. News comes out today he is in BR and its like everyone hits a 180 and ready to forgive him. Every thing about him potentially returning heavily upvoted. I pointed out it was bipolar next thing I know Im in debates over goofy sht.

Why are you on this board? Honest to god question because this board is 99% speculation. Also, i am allowed to form an opinion on the potential return of a quitter amongst the news he is in BR. Not breaking any laws here. Sorry that we disagree and you feel the need to point out that we are not insiders over and over. I believe Arik will hurt our team and you believe he will be an asset if he returns. End of the story. Next time you tell some one to relax, it would be wise not to yell in the previous sentence. You seem to be quite the expert at contradicting yourself

LSU is just a microcosm of the US that has no standards and morals. Culture has changed to getting an advantage by any means possible.

Every single person on this board knows they are guilty of hating on Arik when he bounced and Im watching y'all like dogs in heat drool at the prospect of his return.

Speak for yourself. I have never once hated on Gilbert or any other young man who decided not to play for LSU. In Gilbert's case, this past year has been tough on everyone. Even more so for college football players stuck in a dorm room literally 24/7. Some can handle it and some cant. Have some empathy and give the kid a break instead of acting like Billy Badass.

It would be funny if Arik left temporarily to avoid rule mandated disciplinary action; and we have been trolling other teams with him flirting with them. Sabanesque.

The less you do, the more you get.

Trust is a funny thing. Should be damn hard to earn and even harder to keep. Once broken, lets just say, it can and should be very hard to get back.

frick this "KID". Shitty thing he did to his team.

The me syndrome.

What exactly did he do? Facts only please. I'm being serious.

Here are the only facts I know:
- He didn't play in the last two games
- He entered the transfer portal
- He announced he was transferring to Florida
- He announced he was not going to Florida and wouldn't announced where he was going until he was enrolled somewhere

It's been a strange situation, for sure, but with a dearth of actual facts, it's kinda hard for me to understand all the vitriol.

Take him back as long as he’s committed to being here.

Yes he’s got some issues to work out, but this kid is an elite, generational talent at TE. You people are out of your mind if you think he wouldn’t make this team elite and have a chance at a title run. ESPECIALLY in a better offense with Peetz at the helm

Not exactly sure how I am acting like Billy Badass by pointing out the inconsistent behavior of this board. I can dig up comments from when Arik committed to Florida dismantling the kid (all heavily upvoted). Then he is once again a potential get and y'all are so forgiving and we don't understand what he is going through (all heavily upvoted). It is so fake! You can check every single one of my comments, I have no personal vendetta against Arik, but ever since the guy QUIT in the middle of the season I have had zero sympathy. It is rumored that he has a 1.0 GPA in what sports management. We have all had it tough but some deserve passes because they are superior athletes? Could you just stop going to work and use the pandemic as an excuse and expect to get a pass. Once again another fan that puts these kids on pedestals because they can run fast and jump high. If this were a 2-star athlete this would not even be a debate the kid would have zero sympathy from anyone on this board.

I agree. I would rather have him on my team, rather that on a team we might have to play. I think he signed with LSU because of Joe Brady's offense in 2019 with hopes that it would be the same in 2020, but was disappointed with what he found. I think the addition of DJ and Peetz lured him back to the good guys. I say give him a chance and if nothing else let him ride the pine at LSU until he convinces the coaches that he's all in, rather than allow him to become a weapon for another team to use against us.

I think you are dead on.

If he puts on a jersey he automatically is a starter. You are delusional if you think it’s going to help us win by sitting the best tight end to ever come through the program
