If you're trying to say that Ben doesn't know baseball then you are very clueless...

A stupid one. LSU should be hiring a proven elite head coach.

I agree. He might not have the experience or my emotions are drawing me to the idea of an ex-great injecting a new energy...but to think and, actually state, that Ben McDonald doesn’t know baseball is more absurd than my original question.

I know you are a genius(and I’m not being hyperbolic), but I didn’t say LSU SHOULD hire him; I asked if anyone knows if he would be interested. Clearly, you don’t know.

He knows 80’s & 90’s baseball. Some of it is applicable, but a lot of it isn’t. Then you have to apply that to coaching.

That isn’t even getting into if he knows how to coach & recruit or not. I’m pretty confident throwing him into the premier college baseball program would put him in way over his own head.

He's very knowledgeable of the game, but that doesn't mean he will be a great coach. Sitting in the booth calling games and coaching is totally different. He might be great at it, but it's a risk because he has no coaching experience, especially with these young guys who think they're the greatest thing the game has ever seen.

It’s irrelevant whether he would be interested because LSU should never be looking into him as a possibility.

Also, you’re full of shite. In your OP you were absolutely implying he would be a good choice if he were in fact interested because “He knows baseball, he’s got a fresh energy, charismatic, and he even loves LSU.”

That's not the discussion at all. I'm not talking about him being a college coach, just simply laughing at your comment that he doesn't know baseball. I promise you he's forgot more baseball than you'd ever know..

One thing about a Coach Ben: he’s 6’7”, so no 5’5” recruits, LOL.

If Ben still works for MASN, he's making a pretty decent chunk of spending money, if you add ESPN to the total. Who needs the headache of having to coach/recruit?

I don’t believe Todd Walker has ever been a coach outside coaching his kids, but I’d take him over Eddie Smith.

No he doesn’t. He knows enough to impress casual fans, but there is no way Ben knows enough to coach the team. Plus he’s too lazy the do the broadcasts he’s offered. Our problem is that our head coach is lazy. You’re not solving that with Ben.
