while I’m happy for you, I can’t help but feeling somewhat disgruntled. Especially when people receiving these throw it around like slam dunks.

I don’t even care about not getting the money. I do care that politicians act like I wasn’t affected by the events of the last year just because I made some arbitrary amount of money.

You know what's better than getting stimulus checks? Having a good income.

Congrats on being poor. I make to much money to get any government check.

The idea is to buy products or services to encourage economic growth.

Yet the OP is putting it in an IRA or college fund. That’s the problem with this helicopter stimulus. It’s ineffective, wasteful, and destroying our money

I know someone who qualified for the 1400 and got a letter saying they would be getting 600. Are people going to get shorted?

I also got that letter today. I'm hopeful that this was referring to the $600 that I received in 2020 because biden only signed this bill for $1400 stimulus on Thursday 3/11(yesterday). So there is no way that I would have gotten that mail in less that one day. I'm expecting a $1400 check.

When it comes to taxing people and handouts, the government shouldn't be deciding who needs what.

The truth is the economy doesn't really need it. This is not a rescue or survival payment. This is buying votes kind of money.

You've either stayed employed this whole time or been on unemployment with a federal boost.

Most people are going to use this for "wants", not so much "needs".

So a dude making $158,000 a year and his wife doesn't work is poor? And that's adjusted gross income, not gross income. I didn't realize we had so many millionaires on this site.

Unbelievable

You pay less than others, claiming your kids, and then get back more at end of year by claiming them, and get more in stimulus?

I’m retired, at 45. I own 16 acres with a decent farm house, all of the family cars are paid for and I have zero debt.

I will get 4,200 in the account. The wife works and makes about 80,000 a year.

I’m fine with being deemed poor.

My wife and I will get nothing again. Which is cringeworthy with the amount of what we pay in tax.

He does. However, $233,610 ($284,570 if projected inflation costs are factored in*) for food, shelter, and other necessities to raise a child through age 17. This does not include the cost of a college education.
Furthermore, my decision to not have kids pays other dividends too, such as my freedom to work more hours and/or the required hours(however crazy) to get the job done. I am sure those with kids don't regret their decision to have them, but I certainly don't regret my decision to not have them. I damn sure don't have any regrets of not getting any stimulus money because of my income.

I forgot 99% of this board won't get a stimulus because they're part of the upper class.

The increase in gas prices, everything else, next year’s tax bill will be calling it back.
