He's likely been slowly building one on his own over the course of his career taking inspiration from every one he's coached/played under. I would have a tough time believing we hired a guy with nothing that resembles a playbook.

Correct. And I heard in an interview a while back “forgot which OC it was” that at the college level he was able to implement about 30% of his playbook due to time restrictions with the players. Where as in the NFL there are none. Found that interesting.
