Screw that. I waited tables and delivered food in college. I never really felt tips for delivery were dependent on order value unless it was just a huge quantity order.
When waiting tables, a higher bill most likely meant a little more attention and service. Delivery is the same drive and drop off no matter what, plus you get a much higher turnover. If I got 2 bucks, I was fine and getting stiffed sucked, but wasn't as bad as when waiting tables.

I understand the sentiment, but looking at it objectively, delivering your food to you requires the increased chance of getting into a wreck and it also costs that person money in gas. And as the costumer, it is more convenient someone bringing it to your house than bringing it to a table you’re sitting at in the restaurant. You aren’t using your own money on gas walking food to their table and you don’t have to worry about some a-hole running a stop sign and t-boning you.
