Normal disclaimer, if you do not care about women’s sports, fine but we MUST have them, Title IX. If we have them, like any sport we should try and be at least in SEC hunt most years. Given our VERY strong WBB history, facilities there is no excuse for us to be so bad in her year 10.

This Nikki Fargas decision should be easy.

Overall she is 176-128 and only 81-77 in SEC. If you get rid of 1st two years (when she inherited the bulk of the team) she is 61-65 in SEC. and 131-105 overall.

And she has finished, in order in SEC, 4th, 4th, 6th,4th, 13th, 7th, 4th, 8th, 7th, 8th (out of 13, Vandy opted out).

31-61 vs Top 25…31-61….

1 top 100 signees in the past 3 years.

6 seniors on this year’s roster, and we finish 8th at 8-12 and 6-8.

Not past NCAA round 1 in last 7 years, missed tourney 3 of last 5 years eligible (excludes covid)

She makes $700K per year which can be better spent (yes, it’s ok to spend $700 on the next coach) and do much better.

You want other issues- male coach charged with harassing young women at Downton BTR bar in 2014 and he stayed on the staff 2 more years.
Last year a technical foul for not turning in the roster sheet on time.

15 different assistant coaches

I LOVED the hire, but we are way past time...

So Tigeralum saintsfan22, 357, you all know more than me, what am I missing?

What a terrible 10 years! It is a shame because during the Pokey years it was damn near like it was football season! The fans truly got on board! This is freaking pathetic and honestly it's not the players fault, they have gave it their all this year! Lost a bunch of close games to really good teams!

I will say, hats off to them!

She SHOULD be let go, and probably should have been gone years ago but Alleva handed out extensions because he was lazy

I’d cut bait now honestly but I know some will try to justify the current COVID year and social climate as reasons to not right now.

Next year is going to actually be much worse if Pointer isn’t back

Recent thread on this same topic but considering her minority status, it would be extremely tough to replace her.

She's got it in her, I think we simply created a monster by paying her too much when she started. A revenue losing sport and without a really good product on the floor, one with very little interest.

Sue Gunter had them there but it's so difficult to maintain. Pokey could have done it and Van was past his prime...

How Caldwell has kept her job this long is beyond me. Benefits of staying under the radar.

Spending $700k on a WBB is insane relative to the ROI. It would be even more insane to spend MORE even if it produced better results. This isn't a sexist comment. I have nothing against WBB. But it is often the single largest money loss sport in a major conf. athletic dept.

If LSU wants to move on from her that is fine. It is probably justified. But they should hire a young up-and-coming coach for LESS than they pay Caldwell. If that coach turns out to be great then you can decide whether or not to increase her/his salary at that time or just let them walk and repeat the process.

Chanda Rigby at Troy should be the first call we make. Deep Louisiana connections and consistent champions in the Sun Belt. Usually one of the top scoring and rebounding teams in the NCAA

People keep referencing the social climate, but she’s not going to be fired because we aren’t dishing out millions to buy her out. if the budget gets back to form we can explore the idea. For now there’s no way LSU dishes out that kind of money to fire fargas and make a splash hire.

The team lost to some "really good teams." Coach Vargas needs to stay, The program will do just fine.
