Not sure why but the other day I realized how good Doucet is at his job. BR is lucky to have that dude

When there were no live sports and people were desperate for sports in the summer, JD was a one-man wrecking crew getting interviews on a regular basis that filled more than time, but a serious void for the sports audience.

I’m telling y’all BR boys got it so good. Here in Laffy we have nothing. I can’t tell you who the best on either stations is honestly

We do. We’ve got Dellenger with SI. Brody Miller with The Athletic on top of Doucet.
Our radio is pretty damn top notch compared to similar sized markets around the country.
There is a shite ton of journalistic talent in or associated with BR.

The guy on my ride home on 103.7 is good. In the morning I am not a fan, feels forced and they don’t provide me anything that I couldn’t just read on tigerdroppings in 10 minutes, but they drag it out 3 hours.

Jacques hustles, plain and simple.
There's no reason the Advocate writers couldn't have gotten interviews with Woodward and Faneca, but they didn't.
It's because they're complacent, they're lazy. There's no print competition. John Georges bought out the competition (the Times-Pic).
There is, in their minds, no incentive to get off their butts and do any enterprise reporting. Management doesn't have to spend, either. There's no reason to go to the Super Bowl anymore. (Rabalais better enjoy those Masters trips because those will end soon, too).
No media entity in this part of Louisiana is competing with the Advocate for what few advertising dollars there are.
Expect more of the same.
If we had a real newspaper in this town and in New Orleans, they would be doing public records requests to see who LSU was calling during the coordinators searches. They would fly to South Bend and interview Marcus Freeman and see if they could pry some insight out of him.
They would be investigating the Guice and sexual assault scandals, instead of waiting to see what USA Today turns up. (Scooped by USA Today -- not a very proud moment, Advocate).
They would be talking to Board of Supervisor members and getting them on the record about Orgeron (and about Wade). Even if they said nothing, get the Board on the record.
They would interview Jameis Winston and see where he stands. They would try to get an update on Drew Brees and, while they're at it, ask him why he and the Saints never said anything about the multiple injuries he nursed through the season.
So sure, Jacques Doucet is a local treasure. I totally agree.
But to me, it points out how complacent and deficient the local newspaper is.

Blame it on the “Twitter Machine”. Why waste resources when someone local to a certain situation is gonna tweet it, and cause a response

If you think Laf is bad, try Alexandria. We get Moscona/AFR but nothing else but the ESPN clowns.

The only real gem Lafayette has is Ben Love on 103.7 the game.
Posted on 2/10/21 at 10:29 am to nicholastiger
You boys in Lafayette can have Guilbeau (please). He always has such a positive outlook (lol)

We get this lineup or as close as I can remember.
Clay travis
Tim fletcher show (which is local af, he does calls with high school coaches all day ,its him and Roger's Hampton jr,who laughs at everything and Adam hester)
Dan patrick show
Collin cowherd
Hanging with hester and hanny
Some goofball liberal with cornball Hampton again
Sports talk with jj and bonzai ben, they are decent but bonsai is a nut
Some show where they say the two of them are beeeeeeesssstt friends.(that's the little line they use when they introduce them ,forgot their names but someone should know)
The odd couple with chris Broussard and rob parker
I think I'm missing one in this spot
