Adventure for Atari 2600 was my first open world game and it blew my mind. Might have been my first console game ever.
Also had a few games from Epyx for the C64 like mission impossible and summer games. The movement of platform characters was a huge leap from Atari 2600 icons.
Dragons Lair came out in 83 and was just printed animation on a digital loop, but it showed me the future of gaming.
