Could you explain? I’m a white belt that doesn’t know shite, but I would never want to grapple my equal. That doesn’t help anyone. I always preferred to roll w a blue belt or up, mainly for safety bc they won’t go wild, also so I can be ready in the real world for all sizes of people. Is this an ADCC thing?

It’s a superfight thing- Gordon Ryan is the only guy who will fight anyone anytime anywhere. A lot of elite BJJ guys from Atos, Brazilian gyms and lineages, etc. won’t take matches with guys who train with John Danaher because they don’t have developed leg lock games like the DDS does.
It’s not about being better or fighting the best, it’s about protecting their brands because if they get their knee shredded in 26 seconds by Craig Jones then they feel they’ll lose their clout and money. It’s a fricked way to look at things and costs our sport a chance at being truly mainstream. The only way a non-practitioner would watch Jiu jitsu would be to see a Galvao vs. Gordon type match and it’s not happening anytime soon
