Really rough road?
Through HIS recruiting efforts he had LSU resurrected very quickly. And it manifested with arguably the best regular season since 1980. He raised the level of expectations quicker than anyone could have hoped. That is a good thing!!
But it doesn't mean that he should be beyond reasonable criticism. As we sit here today this is the worst coaching job he has done at LSU to date. And it is not JUST the meltdown loss vs. Texas Tech. It's the failure to fix the defensive woes after FULLY RECOGNIZING last year it was a HUGE problem. He's struggled meshing his "big three" players as at times it looks like Watford and Thomas are competing more with each other for NBA scouts' eyes vs. the opponent
Going into the season this was, IMO, his second most talented team at LSU (some would argue the most talented). Right now, if the NCAAT started today it is likely this group wouldn't be in it and for a program that really thrived on beating good opponents in year's 1 and 2, that has fallen off the last two seasons. Particularly this season where it appears LSU simply isn't a good enough team to play with the better teams in CBB.
No one, realistically, is calling for him to be fired (yet). But I don't understand why it is so taboo to levy some criticism on him whereas other HC's (O, Maineri, get lambasted non stop). Just because YOUR expectations of LSU basketball are pathetically low doesn't mean they SHOULD be

He's a straight up gangsta.
So, stop criticizing him!

quote:Flat out wrong. Joe Lunardi had us as a 10 seed on Friday and Jerry Palm had us as an 11. Losing a close game to the #10 team won't change that.
Right now, if the NCAAT started today it is likely this group wouldn't be in it
