Electric cars are going to have problems.

Range anxiety
Grid capacity
Road Tax issues
But the biggest
Consumer acceptance

Toyota is betting big on Hydrogen. I have a lot of faith in Toyota's insights.

They are building Hydrogen fueling stations in Cali. Leasing Hydrogen cars. driving their cost down.

Hydrogen is now made as a by product of O&G processing. But they are working on getting it from water (H2O)

I would rather good old gasoline me!!

hydrogen from water

Simple process.
You can just pump a current through water.
However, much more energy (required) than what you recover.

The dream would be a metal catalyst(abundant metal) which would suit these needs.

That catalyst has not been found.

Generally d8 metals(platinum, palladium...) work well.
But, obviously cost and scalability make that impossible.
