Maybe. Maybe there was a plan for them that fell apart. The dems certainly have the authority now to send them home and haven’t done so. They’ve already shown they have authority to filter members out and send them home. If the military is in control, why doesn’t anybody in the govt know about it? Why isn’t the media nervous about it? If they haven’t taken over yet, but plan to, why are they parading 25,000 troops around the streets in broad daylight who are accomplishing absolutely nothing? Seems pointless and wasteful.
I’d love for you to be right. I just think it’s wishful thinking at this point.

Of course a bunch of political snob elitists are going to be smug to our military who they view as grunts. And as to why they haven’t sent them home, I already stated bc they know they’re fricking us over and they want them there to deter anybody showing up to do something. The article in the OP says 7,000 troops are staying behind at the request of the Secret Service.

The administration* must really plan on wrecking some shite in the first hundred days if they want the NG to hang around. Of course, they took a giant shite on the troops on day one so it may not turn out exactly how they want it to.
