re: One of the elite Defensive Schools, and we can't get an elite DC?!? Could this be why?

I have said this and it’s absolutely the truth. After this last season it’s obvious that Ed can not step in a run or correct a Defense or he would have. If you’re an experienced coordinator you have the luxury of being left alone but if you’re young and up and coming you want to know that you have help in your head coach. Love O to death but this is a reality for young coordinators vs experienced.

Don’t point out facts or events that have actually happened. There’s one thing the excuse makers hate above all else and that’s objective data.

Before he wasn't, Bo Pelini was an elite DC.

You think DCs aren't banging our doors down? Of course they are. We're holding out for a perfect fit and elite DC.

Pelini was never elite. Of his 13-14 years running defenses for power 5 schools he’s had 4-5 good to very good defenses. The other 9 or so have been garbage with 4 giving up 28ppg or more including the worst defense in LSU history by a full touchdown per game. He hasn’t fielded a competitive defense in over a decade and has given up about 26ppg since 2009.

Not sure how to evaluate the criticism of Ed Orgeron not elevating coaches. Lot of guys who have come through in his short tenure here have already taken off as coaches. I mean, his first hire at OC, Matt Canada, is an NFL OC now. His pick of Brady is an NFL OC now. His pick of Scott Linehan is an NFL OC now. That's a pretty good track record on offense :)

On defense, he inherited Aranda, who the entire world knows is a genius DC, and he's now a HC. The pick to replace him was terrible in practice but seemed "safe" at the time. Pelini had been an elite DC in the past and had HC experience that tended to make him seem like he would be able to fit. He didn't. He failed and failed magnificently. Now we get to see how Ed does picking again on that side of the ball.

I'm worried. I really am. This is nerve-racking. Can't enjoy anything because I have to worry about the fact that we don't have a defensive coordinator that anybody, here, will like, anyway. I can't sleep. It's terrible. My God. I can't cope. It's got to be somebody's fault that I feel this way. It must the head coach that's the problem. Yeah, that's it. I can't wait to tell the internet!

WTH is going on?!?

I'm guessing the NCAA Title 9 stuff that's circling has less folks interested than normally would be. And O did have Ryan Nielsen with the Saints who wanted the job. it looks like our AD is struggling with the contracts side of things.

Tiger fans I’m curious also to the hire problem guys .....Lsu has never had to wait to hire a good defensive coordinator......I’d figure if you do your job “O” can make all the noise he wants

Uhm...tell me, out of all the people Ed O offered the job to so far, how many of them turned down the job because of NCAA Title 9 Stuff?

I hate to burst your bubble genius, but Ed O can hire just about any one he wants. Unless their wife vetoes it because it is too far away from home or there is a clause in their contract that prevents them from taking the job.

How do you people dream up this stuff?

You know what's funny about the Coach O coaching tree? Ryan Nielsen who Coach O was about to sign as his DC before Sean Payton gave him a new title and a raise to keep him is actually from the Coach O coaching tree. After playing for Coach O at USC Coach O hired him at Ole Miss and that was not this Coach O that was horrible coaching Coach O and he still was coming to LSU so your theory don't hold water.

That's the dumbest shite I have ever read. If that was the case no DC would ever want to work with an offensive minded head coach.

This is just fricking stupid. There was no value to Brady or Aranda last season winning a national championship?

Aranda was separate from O, and allowed almost total freedom. He could do what he wanted. I think that caused some animosity between he and O (mostly O's frustration at not being able to control a subordinate).

Brady is a Payton protege, who happened to come here to LSU and show off Payton's schemes.

OP is being downvoted, but there's some truth to it. The benefit is being at LSU with talent available to work with, but there's no system or philosophy at work.

Really the people who call Coach O an idiot need to realize , this is a indictment on Louisiana culture, they are not just making fun of Coach O , but the Cajun people in general , northern and western USA have looked down on the southern culture as a whole but no more then Louisiana , so call Coach O a moron but remember they just might be talking bout you too

So, you're claiming that criticism of O is persecution of Cajuns?
