I used to play behind the news set as a kid, Pat would always make a effort to say hey to me. Genuine great guy that has done a lot for the community over the years.

Yall remember when he used to do that Pat's party thing? This would have been early 90s. I was invited to go to one of those. A kid who lived by me got shot in the face on accident and he had to go through several surgeries and PT, etc.. I just remember he had a thing that involved Pat Shingleton and it was during the summer.

Mike Graham is the absolute GOAT. I wish he would have stuck around longer.. much like Skip Bertman retiring at the pretty young age. He retired from WAFB at 63.

Pat did a lot of good for the Baton Rouge community. He should have never tried to be a weather forecaster though. Sometimes, you have to know your place.

With Pat retiring it's kind of the end of an age where they used to stick anyone in front of a weather screen and tell you the weather. Now it's people who went to school for it.. even the chicks. Pat was a good showman which is why he was able to stick around so long but I wouldn't have ever gone to Pat to ask him about weather.

We tried to hit him with a confetti egg at the Shenandoah School fair about 26 years ago and he flipped out.

At first I thought, what kind of loser takes himself that seriously?

Years later I realized that the one thing you can't do to a weatherman this mess with his hair.
