pour one out for Pat's rug.

I think he has to turn it in-- I believe it is station property.

With Pat retiring it's kind of the end of an age where they used to stick anyone in front of a weather screen and tell you the weather. Now it's people who went to school for it.. even the chicks.

My only issue with is that now you have nothing but eggheads telling you what they think based on book smarts and no sense of reality. Some also have very dry delivery and no personality.

When they do try to come off as a real person they seem fake or they are trying too hard.

In a late 80s newscast, Pat threw the show to a reporter who was doing a serious piece about river stage or something near Southern U. The reporter was standing on the bluff bank of the river delivering his news. Pat suddenly "dove" over the bank into the river, I guess using the green screen, while the reporter continued, oblivious.

Goofy as hell, but that cracked me up. Still chuckling about it.

What Dr. Will be taking his place.
It was bad enough that we had Dr. Josh and now we have Dr. Steve Caprotta.

I laugh every time they say Dr Steve

You make it clear that you'll be dissatisfied no matter what.

Thats a bad screenshot and they should have edited out the first part but the rest of the clip is great. The montage that his son put together is really good with some great clips from way back in the day. Then Pat's final goodbye where he recalled all the anchors and big names he worked with was perfect.

For those talking about accuracy of the weather now - there's a reason Pat was "chief forecaster" and not a meteorologist. He was up there to deliver what the meteorologists came up with in an engaging way to the audience. As someone said it looks like that era is gone for Baton Rouge.

But Pat is as genuine as they come. What you see on air is what you get off air. Always wanting to entertain and make people laugh. Great guy. And he's served this community well.

Well done Beef Supreme. You are spot on.

Pat has done great things for BR as noted, and many more that are behind the scenes.

Organizing help for flood and hurricane victims, putting together groups to assist with all types of community projects, and always noting and promoting on air various projects and efforts to make BR better. With no fanfare for himself.

The city benefited from his work and all that know him would agree 100%.

You signed up to bump a two year old thread specifically to disparage a weather man that retired two years ago?
