Why is it stupid? Seems a pretty level-headed approach to incentivizing minority growth in upper level team management.

No one made the Falcons hire him, but they determined him to be the best candidate

That's why it is stupid. If he's the best candidate, then he's the best candidate, congrats to him! But the idea that the NFL has that black people, uh I mean minorities, can't get a job without incentivizing teams seems a bit racist to me.

I'll gladly take the picks, but I think it's a pretty stupid premise. Same with the Rooney rule. I wouldn't want to be interviewed just because of the color of my skin.
Now if the NFL wants to setup something for all younger coordinators and positions coaches to go through mock interviews and such like that to prepare them, I'm all for that. I think they already have something similar, but it's just for the black coaches, which again I disagree with singling out a specific race.

Maybe I'm naïve, but I find it hard to believe that in this BILLION dollar industry that Owners would not hire the whomever they believed to be the best candidate just because they were a minority

Saints are compensated for developing him into the best candidate. Without the opportunity the Saints provided him, he could not become someone considered for a GM role. No one could. NFL is incentivizing the opening of opportunities at the ground level and helping people reach their potential. It’s a positive thing IMO.

And this, as they say, is the problem.
