It was called the Downtown airport at the time. Spent a bunch of time out there as a little kid.

It was not Independence Airport it was just called the Downtown Airport. When the city made the deal with the state to move State Police from South Foster and build the park they named it Independence Park I’m pretty sure it was because 1976 bicentennial.

We used to travel under it from Old Goodwood to Bon Marche in the storm drains which are huge. We went as far as Greenwell Springs Road.
