Yeah we know.

There would need to be an Amendment to make DC a state and that won't happen.

Puerto Rico though...

I wish as I were as optimistic as you on DC. With Democrats controlling everything, we're going to get DC/PR statehood. Manchin and Sinema can say all they want about not making them states and not backing court-packing, but their side has embraced cancel culture. If they don't bow down to the AOC/Warren/Sanders nut jobs on the left, they're going to get cancelled. They'll get a primary challenge and have mobs go to their homes and offices who will threaten them and force them to change. They will bow down to the mob.

Correct me if I’m wrong. Currently Puerto Rico doesn’t pay federal taxes, if they become a state they will have to pay taxes. Not sure the people of PR will vote to become a state.

I think Puerto Rico has voted down statehood twice.

I think three times they have put the Puerto Rico question up for vote. it was either 1): Become a state, 2): Become an independent nation, or 3): maintain the status quo as a territory.

Every time the people have elected to just maintain status quo
