got to SB and lost
won SB over Miami
lost NFC CG
lost in playoffs
finished 8-6
went to SB and lost to Pitt
lost in NFC CG
won SB
lost SB to Pitt
lost to Rams in playoffs
lost to Philly in NFC CG
lost to San Fran in NFC CG

Cowboys had two more playoff seasons after the ‘82 NFC title game loss. Lost to the Rams at home in the ‘83 wild-card game. Won the division in ‘85 but lost in Anaheim in the divisional round.

Started 6-2 in ‘86. Then Danny White got hurt and the Cowboys went 1-7 the rest of the way to finish 7-9. And that was essentially the official end of the Cowboys being relevant under Landry. Went 7-8 in ‘87 (strike year) and 3-13 in ‘88 and then Landry got fired.

With all of that said and with all of the excellence of the 49ers, Redskins, Giants and Bears in the ‘80s, people forget the Cowboys were still an NFC force for the first half of the ‘80s. And I say that as someone who has hated the Dallas Cowboys since I was a kid in that era. I respect the hell out of Landry for his innovations, coaching acumen and his ability to be in control of his emotions.
