it would have been called the Landry Trophy after they won the Championship that year.

Landry only passed away in 2000 (and the Lombardi Trophy was only named such after Vince’s death in 1970).

I really don’t care about the field conditions at Green Bay that day.... however the Packers noticed that if Bob Hayes from the Cowboys kept his hands in his pockets he wasn’t gonna be involved in that play. But when he kept his hands out of pocket they knew to spy on him... fun fact that most may not know......

This is just off the top of my head and I’m old and may miss something but here is what the Cowboys did under Landry....

1966 NFL CG lost
1967 NFL CG lost
1968 lost in playoffs
1969 lost in playoffs
1970 got to SB and lost
1971 won SB over Miami
1972 lost NFC CG
1973 lost in playoffs
1974 finished 8-6
1975 went to SB and lost to Pitt
1976 lost in NFC CG
1977 won SB
1978 lost SB to Pitt
1979 lost to Rams in playoffs
1980 lost to Philly in NFC CG
1981 lost to San Fran in NFC CG
1982 lost to Redskins in NFC CG

That’s a hell of a resume......

The way I understand the naming of the Super Bowl trophy was since Lombardi won the first one (good coach, blah, blah) it was named after him. Back to my point, if he wouldn’t have cheated by turning off the field heating system that had been installed in GB the night prior to the game Dallas would have more than likely won. Obviously this is just my opinion.
