It's a strong academic environment, but as stated there are a lot of weird kids there and some kids go off the rails with that little supervision.
I wouldn't bother unless your kid is shooting for an exceptional university. Know a lot of LSMSA alums who ended up at LSU or even Southeastern or ULL who went into nursing, teaching, are stay at home moms, etc. Seems like a complete waste if those are their aspirations.
