Fatman was a mediocre movie with an incredible world to build on

so I watched Fatman this weekend and it was...OK. i had a few chuckles and it was generally decent, just wasn't anything i'd recommend

it's one of those semi-satirical and dark movies where everyone knows what they're making and hams it up. i think they all played it a bit too droll which makes it a lot less funny, ultimately. this opposed to say, john wick, which was in many ways a satire but it was played 100% straight and made it that much more amazing (Being a better action movie helps a lot, too).

however, like john wick, the WORLD they built in this movie is FASCINATING. i don't think the movie will get any sequels which is sad b/c they can do a lot in this world

OK? For what the movie was, I thought it was really good.

I’d agree with this. I liked it and found the whole concept really interesting but I think I had my expectations in the right place too. Mel played it great IMO.

that’s the key - I think a lot of people went into this with their expectations WAY too high.

I enjoyed the heck out this movie. It had a good balance of real and mythos to keep it fun. Hamster loving, Santa obsessed, hired hitman was a great character.

It wasn't great but I liked it. I turn off 90% of the movies now days before the 20 minute mark.

There's a good Indie Film Hustle podcast episode (#420) with the filmmakers talking about the movie.

Not to spoil anything, but we were watching it and at one point near the end, my 14 year old son stood up and said, "What the F&*k" I'm out.

If you've seen the movie you'll know the part I'm talking about.
