NEW: Los Angeles has now crossed 300 homicides for the first time in over a decade (2009), and the year isn’t over yet. 297 going into weekend, now 4 more.
I wonder if there is something common to when that last happened?

the council voted 12 to 2 to take the Los Angeles Police Department down to 9,757 officers by next summer — a level of staffing not seen in the city since 2008.
I guess we'll have a good idea on whether defunding the police works in a year then. It'll either get better real quick or it's totally crap.

Can’t wait to see what happens once they “reimagine “ the force and see next years stats

Wow, what a strange coincidence.

If those officers are better trained it might work well.
Think of it like any other workforce, more isn’t always better. Sometimes fewer, better trained staff is more effective.

Spoiler alert if you don’t want to wait a year to know. It will be much, much worse, because make believe and real life are very, very different.
