But he also had ZERO help. ZERO. No one was open, no one could catch, and no one could block

OHHHHHH ok. So when Brennan faces the same problems it doesn’t matter, because all I heard was how a QB “makes the oline better”, “he throws a more catchable ball”. Apparently when Myles faces the same thing and puts up huge numbers it’s irrelevant.

I love how people don’t want to rewatch all the missed throws too. He had WIDE OPEN receivers who he just missed completely; he had guys drop passes bc he threw it 100mph behind them. It’s not just one bad throw. But y’all can’t come on here after claiming some BS like “the threat of TJ running the ball is what opens up the run game” and then turn around and blame the oline.

eager to point and laugh at Finley and anyone who spoke highly of him

There might be a small percentage who fit the first category but for the people “defending” him, eat this crow. 90% of those “defending” him were just attacking Brennan for exactly what TJ just went through.

At what point has Brennan faced "the same problems"? Receivers have been running open all season until yesterday. In the first game against MSU, when there was pressure, Brennan didn't handle it well at all. After that game, he improved. Finley faced FAR more pressure than Brennan has in any of his three starts, and obviously it didn't go well. When there were open receivers early in the game, he was hitting them. But after he made his couple of mistakes that put the team in a hole, everyone appeared to just quit around him. I never saw this team quit in any of Brennan's games.

And here's what you're missing while you're busy ranting about an imaginary group of people who supposedly wanted Brennan benched (which is not what the majority of people were saying): It's not about trying to prove that Brennan wasn't good. After the first game, he was outstanding. And I never said Finley's ability to run changed anything. I don't think he's that good of a runner, and I hated the draw plays. It was that Finley showed an incredible ability to read the defense quickly and get the ball out immediately against USC. It was incredible because the guy was literally stepping into a college game for the first time. That told me and a lot of others that he's got a great natural ability. It's taken Brennan a long time to develop. But he has, and that's great. I simply think Finley has a higher upside.

I never called for Brennan to be benched. He didn't do anything to lose his job. And based on having paid his dues, I fully expected and supported that he would likely regain his starting job, when healthy, no matter what Finley did. Meat heads took that and ran with this narrative: "You guys think he's the messiah after one game. You turned on Brennan as soon as he got hurt. Wah, wah, wah"... It was typical tigerdroppings strawman, mischaracterization tactics to try to win a point.

If Brennan could improve from his first taste of adversity, why can't Finley? Why do we have to bury Finley? Myles has played well, but hasn't faced anything like yesterday. It's incredibly ignorant to try to compare the two QB's based on that. I'm good with either guy. I said that all week. My only issue was with those who just poo-pooed Finley all week because "it's just one game", and now after ONE off game, you hypocrites turn right back around and make your own sweeping judgments.
