Roger Waters was never better lyrically than he was on " The Final Cut ".

Lyrically, it was very strong, but stronger than Animals? WYWH? I think it was the logical evolution from the delayed teen angst displayed on The Wall - which was also very powerful, lyrically - The Wall was classic Waters' excess but also had Mother, Young Lust, Run Like Hell, ABITW Part 2 and, of course, Comfortably Numb (which is a GOAT candidate).

The problem with The Final Cut was that it was supposed to be a solo Waters album and the music wasn't up to Floyd standards (meaning took a back seat to the lyrics), The Gunner's Dream and Not Now John, notwithstanding.
