I know Brees’ arm may be shot but he can still hit those 15-30 yard passes accurately. The one to Cook was around 37 yards in the air. Why can’t there be more of these play calls?

These passes right at the LOS and WR screens on 3rd and long aren’t going to get it done and are hard to watch.

I believe payton is trying to save Brees arm for the playoffs. We have seen a pretty significant drop off the last two years come playoffs. Maybe this is genuinely an attempt to stretch his arm as long as possible.

It seems like they want to take the shots. You can see a lot of the plays he’s looking to go downfield and either the play takes too long to develop or the pocket collapses too quickly. With Thomas coming back, the bye week, I think things will start to open up more.

Can’t pass downfield because Peat allows too much pressure up the middle.

We need to find a Peat replacement this offseason. Dead money be damned!
