last week I asked a TCU friend of mine about Brooks having second guesses leaving LSU for TCU. Here was his response....

"Marcel is rushing the QB on passing downs from the DE position. He will play LB next year, still hasn't grasped the defense. Hope he picks up the scheme quickly, but GP's D can be overcomplicated sometimes. And he got hurt in the first half of the Texas game, questionable for this week vs. K-State"

Brooks obviously thought he could just transfer back home and get immediate, significant playing time at TCU. He wasn't cleared by the NCAA until Mid-July which gave him less than 2 months to learn the Gary Payton Defense.

The decision by Brooks proves that the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.

I know the big reason he left was personal and to be closer to family, but he also voiced frustration at LSU for making him a LB. Seems Gary Patterson is doing the same.

I'd welcome Marcel back with open arms, but I don't know if that's ever happened

He would be absolutely starting for us. Our linebackers can't cover shite and you know he could do better than they are against these spread teams. Special talent.

To be fair, basketball is a completely different sport.

Any reason he couldn't study the GP D prior to Mid-July?
