Like most tiger fans, I am upset about the productivity on both sides of the ball yesterday. That being said, I think these Tigers showed a lot of promise.

WAY too many yards given up in the air. However, give the D some credit. Generating 4 turnovers is pretty good by todays standards. If Stingley wouldve played yesterday I think MSU doesnt get at least 1/3 of those yards. Lots of young guys will likely develop quite nicely moving forward.

Offense was def not was not great, esp when compared last year. However, most of these guys are new. No spring training really hurt this unit. When you are breaking in basically all new starters it will take some time for the O to run smoothly.

Myles Brennan: just needs to get more comfortable back there. I think after one game he's better than any other qbs we've had over the past decade (minus Burrow and Mett).

We all want the Tigers to compete every year for a championship. This is most likely not the season, but I think we'll see a better product moving forward. 2021 we'll be back; this year we'll surprise some people.

In the meantime just be glad we have college football this season at all. This season almost didnt happen; so relax and have fun with your peeps on Saturdays. If nothing else LSU will give us that.

I agree with the defense. We are insanely young and thin in the secondary and had to defend one of the greatest air raid coaches of all time without the best corner in the nation. Our front 7 was extremely effective.

But I don't think it's a comfort thing with Brennan. I hope I am wrong, but I just don't think he has it. Looks totally clunky back there. If we had Alabama's OLine and he had a clean pocket on most drop backs, sure. But he seems like the kind of guy who freaks out when the play breaks down. You need someone who will make it happen and get it to his WRs. He doesn't seem to be that guy.

His stats were fine, but if you watched him, even the passes he hit weren't great. He did have a few really sharp throws, but most of them were trash. That's just the way it went down.

ETA - I am not sure if you are one of these guys, but I wish we'd stop comparing this to Joe's first game. It was apparent from the jump that Joe had the capability to be a really good QB from day 1. You could see that, give this guy an off-season with his WRs and we may have something special. I see none of that with Brennan. I see someone who wants to be the guy but doesn't have that killer mentality. And it's honestly not a knock on him, because it's extremely rare. I don't think anyone is expecting him to be Joe. But we were expecting him to show something that looked promising going forward.

I would rather have no season than losing to a shitty Miss State football team... don’t care what happens the rest of the season. Losing to Miss State ruins the season.

Maybe the players and coaching will get better for next year.

This is a rebuilding year. Plain and simple. Losing to MSU sucks and it shouldn't happen but it is not the biggest surprise when you consider all of the factors. Only metric we should judge this team by is improvement.

2019 is gonna carry me for a while but 620 yards is 620 yards

If that continues Bo needs to get the Canada treatment.

give the D some credit

Well they did only let MSU break one all time SEC record, so there’s that I guess?

Agree with all this. And if we improve a little every game watch out we will surprise some teams this year. We were inches or milliseconds away from some huge game changing plays on offense and defense. At this level that matters and is the difference.

Think we could have added 1+ interceptions and at least 3+PD
Sacks vs completions as well as the huge affect on the offense the time in the pocket the timing on routes t
Honestly was pretty upset with the WR catch radius some big time drops

This team, like the fans, believed Burrow, Helaire, Jefferson, Chase, and the other first round draft choices were the new normal. Last year all the pieces were in place as well as great experienced leaders. The pieces are there but they haven't jelled into their roles yet.
Hopefully that was a wake up for everyone.
