OK, I suck at this game online

I am 2-5, playing mostly level 2 peeps, but today I got blown away by a level 1 guy (whatever that means). I was LSU, he was Missouri. I could not run the ball, pass the ball or defend him.

So my question is this: As a casual gamer who mostly plays against the CPU, what is your strategery against these online people? I get zero pass rush from the D Line, and when I send the LB's or corners I get exploited every time. Most of the time my guys are no where near where the pass is going. Using the Corso suggestions are simply useless online. If I am in the vicinity to break up a pass, I usually can, but as I mentioned my guys always seem like they are way out of position.

Even when I play a 3 man front and double up the X and/or Y receivers, I get my arse handed to me.
