I’m getting 2-3” groups at 100 yards. I’m also putting the gun in a lead sled so I know it’s not me. I know the mounts are tight but I get wild shots that are 4” off every 5 rounds or so. I am thinking I have a barrel problem at this point. I’ve cleaned the gun way more than I would ever clean a gun and cannot get it to be consistent.

I had a rifle that did that once, turned out it was the mounts. Stayed dead on then one would fly. Sent the barrel back to the manufacture and they said the barrel was good. Changed out the mounts no problem.

It’s a 30-06. I’m not a great shot and I have missed a couple of deer with it. My old mossberg seemed to always get it done for me. When I had misses I started to question the rifle and after taking my shaky hands out of the matrix I have found the rifle has some sort of issue. Looking down the tube I can’t find anything irregular. Just wondering if y’all have seen anything like this before.

Sure. Not saying you are a bad shooter but to get sub 2” groups at 100 yards your trigger pull has to be pretty good.

You can still jerk the trigger in a lead sled, and depending on the design of it can put inconsistent pressure on the gun somewhere and cause fliers.

Only way you’re gonna know for sure is to shoot another rifle that someone else can group and rule that out. Next would be ammo, try some new stuff. Not unheard of for a scope lens to get loose. A gunsmith would have made sure the barrel isn’t getting pressure from the fore end and the action screws are tight, but that’s where to look if you make it that far.
