LSU/Notre Dame, South Bend 1985. Henry Thomas. Dalton Hilliard. I saw their fans literally cry. It was magical.

Drove up to Southbend w/ a buddy from Niles, MI. No tickets, but found some outside right in front of Touchdown Jesus. Seems like the Tigers defense picked off a pass or two and kept blocking Irish field goals until Wickersham got the passing game cranked up enough to win it at the wire. Glorious defensive struggle. It was freezing cold, but everyone was packed so closely together in the narrow seats of that stadium that it was bearable. We were surrounded by, who turned out to be, some very sensitive Irish season ticket holders who seemed to be overly accustomed to winning. Not their day...
Had so much fun at the Notre Dame game, we decided to drive to Chicago to catch a Bears game. No tickets, but found some right outside Soldier Field. Tickets were great but my shoes kept freezing to the ice beneath my feet. The coldest football game that I have ever attended. Bears won on their way to winning the Super Bowl that season.
Good Times...
